The Post Graduate Diploma in Patent Management
The Program curriculum begins with an analysis of the competing policies underlying the intellectual property laws. It will teach the basics of
trade secrets, patents, copyrights, and trademark law, as well as state law forms of protection. Having obtained an overview of the various forms of intellectual property rights, students shall focus on patents and patenting issues for the remainder of the course.
This is our flagship program for all those aspiring to be patent agents / attorneys, and for those whose scope of work involves patents and patenting issues. Our class is not limited to lawyers. We encourage participants with diverse professional skills to apply for the programmes such as engineers, doctors R&D professionals, chartered accountants, analysts etc. No technical or legal background is expected or required.
The Course aims to groom professionals who are ready to take charge, who can influence Intellectual Property Management trends and practices through their thought leadership.
The Course –
Will give students the tools and skills they will need to draft and analyze patents. After providing the legal foundation, high level practitioners from leading law firms and industry will be drawn in to offer our students a real-world experience of intellectual property practice in fields such as patent search, drafting, licensing and Patent Management.
Will also focus on intellectual property strategy for knowledge based companies and legal professionals. The course has been designed to provide students with a solid understanding of key strategy issues in the field of intellectual property law, and to help them in preparing to take leadership roles in addressing such issues in business and/or practice.
Will give students grounding in strategic thinking necessary to guide a company’s overall approach to intellectual property management and related legal issues. The acquisition, enforcement, and licensing of patents, as well as less legal-centric techniques for appropriating the value of patents will also be discussed. Focus will thus be on both the detailed rules and doctrines that determine what is patentable, as well as how best to commercialize and exploit the strategic potential of a company’s core IP vis–a–vis its corporate policy.
