The Academy of Intellectual Property Studies (AIPS) is an institute that has been set up, in affiliation with the Indian Drug Manufacturers Association (IDMA), by a team of dynamic professionals who are experts in their fields. Committed to excellence, the team has the experience and drive to rapidly make AIPS an apex institution of choice.
AIPS aspires to be a leader in the field of IP studies, offering a mix of training / learning programmes that will enable the participants to become IP Smart.
As work-area expertise is at a premium, such that professionals are able to get down to the job at hand expeditiously, AIPS programmes and courses are devised to provide not only a sound theoretical base but also the opportunities to maximize practical knowledge. Extensive use of case studies, simulation exercises, an active faculty-participant interaction, research-based assignments etc., shall, therefore, be integral features of the methodology used, facilitating a true and in-depth learning.
The focus will thus go beyond mere textbook teaching of IP theory.
Intellectual Property covers a very diverse subject hence at AIPS our students will not be limited to only those from the legal profession. We encourage participation from other professions too, such as – Engineers, Doctors, Chartered Accountants, Analysts etc. Diversity in the classroom shall also be addressed. Apart from inviting suitable faculty, assignments and exercises shall be framed keeping the class composition in mind so that individual needs in a diverse group are fully catered to.
In an increasingly knowledge based world where awareness and exploitation of intellectual property rights is becoming more and more important, there is an urgent need of managers and corporate personnel in India who will be ready to face the challenges thrown up in the post 2005 era. The debate on pre-post 2005 is now unimportant. Instead, now is the time to gear-up, to grab the opportunities, and compete internationally. What is of importance is the need to formulate strategies to compete successfully in this brave new economy witnessing a rapid convergence of business, law and corporate intellectual assets. At AIPS, with the active support and guidance of our very able faculty, we hope to address this need.
Towards this, we shall be offering the following premium programmes-
Post Graduate Diploma in Patent Management The purpose will be to impart both skills and knowledge. Patenting theory will be combined with technical sessions in areas such as Prior-Art Search, Patent Specification Drafting, Licensing, Opposition procedures, etc. A legal or technical background is not a prerequisite, and the programme will provide useful training to prospective Patent Agents / Attorneys.

IP related Seminars and Workshops
Seminars will be organized with international and reputed Indian experts as speakers, enabling participants to gain an international perspective as also keep abreast with developments in the IP field.
Workshops on the other hand will be interactive training events specifically designed to provide hands-on expertise in specific IP related areas and add-on skills to professionals already in the field.
These activities will be organized in due course of time.
